Muffler "cover plate" sides

Have you figured out for what purpose are L-shaped plates on StuG-models (I don't remember what part number in Dragon kit)...

I haven't seen these plates in any of Finnish StuGs or any signs that they ever have been there...

Yep, they are "ilmanohjauspeltejä" for the cooling fans. Our StuGs had them also. Check out Ps.531-4, -14, -34 and -41 in our book.

EDIT: Added -4 and -14. The others had them too, but these are the ones that have been photographed from behind.

Right you are...

I have few pictures on numbers 4 and 14. And there they were...

Unfortenately, during restoration these plate weren't nowhere to be found...

Paint on these (4 and 14) is replicated according to wartime pictures. Colour lines were drawn by Mr. E. Muikku and painting (and restoration) was done by "Telatappi-tiimi" under guidance of "Museum master" and Mr E. Muikku...
