Questions & Answers about Finnish Medium & Heavy tanks of WWII

Finnish T-34/85

Postby Sickboy » Sun Nov 12, 2006 11:00 pm

Hello there !

I've a few questions about modeling Finnish Tanks of WW II, in 1/72 scale...
One of my firsy quetion is about the 7 T-34 captured and put in use in
summer of '44... Which type are they exactly... On pics, I've noticed the
flatened turret patern, but I don't now about fenders (round ones ?) nor
about the wheels types, engine deck paterns, as most of the finnish T-34
pics I've seen are rebuilt post war exemples... So anybody with an helping
hand ?
About the kits : which one is the best and faithfull to the captured ones :
UM T-34/85's, Dragon's T-34/85's ? Thank you (may be I can say Tank You
!!!), S-Boy.

They are early m1944 T-34-85s.

Originally the fenders were the russian round ones. In Finnish use they were either missing or later on with the same modifications they still have today. The wheels were either 6-spoke or all solid.
No post-war modifications have been made to the Finnish T-34-85's that would hide or change the engine deck (or any other large structures).
