Hello Andreas:

Firt of all congratulations for your web site and also for this new forum, it very usefull for Finish WWII armour fans.

I'm AFV modeller of Chile (South America), I'm very interested in finish amour, one year ago i build the finish T-50, now i want to build a stug III G from the 1943 batch (in 1/48 sacale) but with the summer 1944 modifications.

I almost have not documetation apart from the book 'The finnish armoured vehicles 1918-1997' from Muikku and Purhonen (very nice book). There is tow interesting pictures on this book:

1 Page 89 (below): The PS 531-10 'Budi': i have tow questions for you  :

¿It was repainted over in dark green? if it wash painted over in green ¿the area welow the logs remains in three color camo?

if it wash not repainted ¿in wich color where painted the logs and the concrete aditional armour and the track links on the bow?

and finally, how where atached the logs?

This picture is labelled as it wash from 531-10, but the logs are in a very diferent way from 89 page picture:

2 page 90 top: it is another 43 stug batch with 44 modifications, PS 531-30, in this case the concrete armour and the trak links where over painted in the three color camo (great!!!) but there is a strage stowage box on the side, ¿it is present on the other side, and what it`s for?

Well, i just have some questions  , please could you or other peoples around here help me with this?

PS1: sorry for my bad english

PS2: there any chace to publish the book Suomalaisten rynnäkkötykkien kohtalot in english? it haves pictures with sutg III batch 43 with 44 modifications?

Thank You!

To my knowledge Ps.531-10 "Bubi" was still in it's original three-colour camoflage during the summer of 1944.

It seems like the concrete armour at first was just plain concrete and later maybe repainted in the three-colour camoflage. There are photos of tanks with both configurations.
I would say that most StuG's didn't have neither the logs nor the track-links painted over.

titocostap wrote:and finally, how where atached the logs?

At first (as in the photo) with thin steel wire to the sides of the StuG. Later on with "J" -shaped steel shapes holding the logs (as in the later Bubi picture in Muikku & Purhonen's book).

Yep. See the previous answer.

This box is quite unique. I haven't seen any other StuG's with that kind of box. The box is for the fire-extinguisher.

I don't know. We have to talk to our publisher about that. Yes, the book has pictures of modified StuG's. Both wartime and post-war.

Thanks a lot
