Ever come across the records of Panzer III's that were sold by Norway to Finnland in 1958. I am specifically tring to find out there German Manufacturer / individual chassis numbers and armament. More than likey these panzers were the vehicles that equipped Panzer Brig Norwegen ay the end of World War II. Most of the veciles would be Ausf. L, M, N series based off of photographic evidence. I have been unab;e tp find evidence of chassis numbers in National Archives in Washington D.C. of Panzer Brig. Norwegen. More than likely the records were destroyed.

Thanks

Henry

Interesting! I've never even heard of the Finnish Army possessing Pz. IIIs and none of the books in my bookshelf mention such a transaction. What is your source for that information?

They were used as spare-parts for our StuGs, not as tanks. In his "Laguksen Rynnäkkötykit" -book Mr. Erkki Käkelä on page 350 writes (my translation):
"The difficult spare-parts situation was tried to solve by accuiring in the year of 1958 from Norway about 20 Panzer III's, one Stu-40, engines, tracks and other parts that were left there by the Germans."

Hi Andreas:

Appararently Norway kept records of all Pz.Kpfwg. III and Stug III left over by Germans after the war including, gun, engine and transmission number, chassis number and turret number. These records are still kept at the Deparment of Motor Vehicles of Norway. I have been trying to get my contact in Norway to get me the copies but I (He) has only got the copies of the vehicles that were kepy at Rena, Norway.

Best Regards,

Henry
